Dumpster Trucks

Among options as an independent contractor or a business owner with lots of waste throughout the week, getting a dumpster truck versus a stand-alone dumpster is ideal. There are literally trailers and trucks built to waste management standards for the purposes of hauling trash of all kinds. Whether hazardous materials or general waste, the transportation of whatever is inside of the dumpster portion of the truck stays safe within and can be driven immediately to a dump. By investing in a dumpster truck you ensure that you never have to contract for pickup services nor do you have to arrange flatbed towing and/ or crane rental (if your dumpster is large and has no wheels).

Portable Dumpsters

Getting an unwieldy dumpster from point A to point B isn’t always easy. When rented, dumpsters usually will be picked up and emptied through the rental company. When you own a dumpster, you’re the party responsible for transport and dumping. While there are services available for these needs they often come at a significant overhead. By purchasing a dumpster truck that you can park at a job site and drive over to the junkyard, you save yourself the trouble and gas of taking many truckloads. A typical van or truck bed will fit two to three cubic yards. There are dumpster trucks that will carry ten to forty cubic yards in a shot. Investment into a dumpster truck is exceptional for traveling landscapers and homebuilders. Economy comes with use: don’t invest in a portable dumpster beyond your scope or need.

Trash Compacting Dumpsters

Similarly to trash trucks, there are dumpster trucks that will compact your trash for you. The advantages of having a compactor truck are obvious; if you have forty cubic yards of compacted trash versus forty yards of loose trash, you could be looking at thousands of more pounds per square yard! Compactor trucks are more expensive than standard dumpster trucks that have only dumping hydraulic systems. In terms of convenience, you’ll be well with a trash compacting dumpster – beware though, with more working parts, more maintenance will be necessary. Hydraulic systems require serious care so that they do not become dangerous to operate. If you plan the proper maintenance in your budget then your compacting dump truck can make jobsite cleanup a breeze while saving you money versus a rental truck!

Finding the Right Dump Truck

Keep in mind that capacity is king when it comes to dump trucks: being able to compact is good but space is what makes the difference. Not all contractors or business owners will need a large dumpster. Depending on the jobs that you’re doing, you may need a smaller dumpster around five to ten cubic yards. Transportation of a rental is never an issue but owning your own dump truck means greater freedom in assigning dumpsters to job sites. Search online through specialized auto auctions for construction equipment and contact construction companies to find out if any of their old inventory is for sale!
