Types of Dumpsters
Dumpsters are essential for proper waste storage. This refers to a large waste receptacle made from steel to be unfilled into garbage trucks. Dumpsters are commonly used in commercial and residential purposes providing a convenient way to store and transport garbage to landfills, incinerators and recycle centers.
If you are planning to rent dumpsters, know that there are different types of dumpsters out there. Besides, your choice of dumpsters depends on the amount of garbage you need to get rid of and the location you intend to place them. Considering them before calling the local dumpster rentals in your area will ensure that you get to choose the right dumpster for your waste storage needs.
Different Types of Dumpsters
There are different types of dumpsters that can be rented from local dumpster rental companies. Here they are.
- Front Loader Dumpsters – This type of waste receptacle container have slots on both sides designed for garbage truck’s front prongs to be inserted onto it. Once the prongs are in place, the garbage truck lifts the receptacle into the rear storage. These receptacle loaders are often preferred by companies where local trash pick-up services are not available such as in offices, retail stores, beauty salons, card shops and small restaurants. Front load dumpsters are available from 2 to 8 cubic-yard sizes.
- Rear Loader Dumpsters – This type of dumpster closely resembles the front loader dumpsters but employs a more complicated mechanism. It uses a winch and hinge mechanical system. There are two poles extending crossways out of the front edge of the receptacle which are locked in over the underside edge of the opening right at the back of the garbage truck. The hook-attached winch is fastened onto the hole at the rear edge of the waste container and the hook tugs it up until everything inside the receptacle falls into the cavity of the garbage truck. Rear loader dumpsters are available from 2 to 8 cubic-yard sizes.
- Roll-off Dumpsters – This is the largest-capacity waste receptacles with about 40 cubic yards space. This type of receptacle can be loaded in different ways, either with the use of winch and metal sled or through robotic arm mechanism. The robotic arm mechanism plainly takes a hook on the edge of the receptacle and drags it right onto the rear of the dump truck. On the other hand, the sled and winch system works by lifting over the metal sled from the bed of garbage truck to around 45-degree angle. After which, the waste container is secured onto the winch and pulled-up by the metal sled. As the container and sled ascends, the sled tilts back into horizontal position. These are often used on projects that produce huge amounts of trash.
Considerations in Choosing the Types of Dumpsters
Figure out the amount of garbage you will be putting on the dumpsters from the construction or renovation project. Basically, you won’t be renting certain types of dumpsters that are either too small or too big for the amount of garbage it will contain as well as the location you will be placing them. The location must be accessible making it easier for dumpster rental services to drop and pick-up the receptacle easily.
